About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Forest and Watershed Conservation Specialist to join our team in Bangladesh. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing conservation strategies to protect and restore forest ecosystems and watersheds in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for technically leading the Chittagong Hill Tracts Watershed Co-Management Activity II (CHTWCA II) project, ensuring effective implementation through coordination with multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, development partners, traditional leaders, and community institutions. Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the CHT Master Development Plan, focusing on conservation, and advise relevant stakeholders on its implementation.
  • Ensure effective implementation of CHTWCA II by coordinating with government agencies, development partners, traditional leaders, and community institutions.
  • Develop technical proposals and concept papers on mathematical modeling for forest carbon assessment and natural resource management, integrated watershed and forest co-management, resilient ecosystem management, and climate change mitigation.
  • Provide technical support to other teams and sub-projects under the Ecosystem Restoration and Resilient Development in CHT Project.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An advanced university degree in Forestry, Watershed Management, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Statistics, Environmental Science, Remote Sensing, Wildlife Conservation, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in managing watershed co-management projects, including government/donor interactions at the management and policy level in the region.
  • Proven record of experience working on forest and habitat co-management, protected area co-management, wildlife conservation and crime control, resilient livelihoods, micro-enterprises, and biodiversity conservation.
Benefits

This is a temporary staff position, which includes a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
