The Program for HIV and AIDS under the Health System and Population Studies Division (HSPSD) at icddr,b provides good quality HIV prevention services to key populations at risk of HIV infection since 2010. This has been made possible by working with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), donors, NGOs and CBOs. Recently, the Program for HIV and AIDS has taken several initiatives to reach Hard-to-reach community groups with an innovative service delivery approach.
Position Description:
The Surveillance Worker will report to the Medical Officer and will be responsible for enabling key populations at risk of HIV infection such as MSM/MSW/Hijra to enroll in various project-related activities, collect relevant programmatic data, and documentation, and provide support to the team with the objective of achieving target and goals of the project within the guidelines of project protocol and organizational values and guidelines. Major responsibilities will include-
Understand project scope, activities, timelines, targets, areas, scope of work etc. as per project requirements;
Receive project assignment from supervisor and implement as per project plan;
Visit field sites as per schedule provided by the supervisor; obtain primary consent/assent from the participants and conduct face-to-face interviews to collect relevant behavioral data and assist in various onsite testing (HIV, RBS, Syphilis etc.);
Maintain supply of instruments and logistics required for testing and sample collection as per guidelines;
Proper monitoring and documentation of stocks and other logistics used for project-related activities;
Raise requisition for logistics instruments and other commodities on time;
Organize logistics support and deliver supplies to the field as needed;
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports of field activities and submit them to the supervisor;
Counsel and encourage participants for follow-up visits and take part in various onsite testing as per protocol;
Organize and preserve different official documents/records/files;
Orient new team members on relevant project activities;
Support supervisor and respective M&E personnel in Data Management by Maintaining different project-related records and documents and providing time-to-time data and following up the project participants;
Support team for executing project-related day-to-day tasks in accordance with project protocol;
Escalate any issues to the supervisor for his/her guidance.
Required qualifications and experience:
HSC pass or equivalent. Preference will be given to the candidates who completed a 3-year medical diploma from a recognized Institution (MATS) and a one-year internship with BMDC registration.
At least 1 year relevant experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in working with sexual and gender-diverse population groups.

Contract Type and Duration:
Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.
Salary & benefits:
Tk.22,080/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr, b and subsidized canteen. Transport and Daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
