TECHNOLOGIES OF TODAY AND HOW IT AFFECTS THE FUTURE

TECHNOLOGIES OF TODAY AND HOW IT AFFECTS THE FUTURE

Over the past few decades, technology has undergone impressive evolution, which has transformed our lives and enabled us to keep up with it. Technology has done more than anything to enable people to live comfortable lives, from providing access to roads, trains, and aircraft for convenient travel to facilitating communication from anywhere in the world. We also have better knowledge of the universe and space thanks to technology. Technology has advanced every field, which amply demonstrates the significance of technology in all facets of our lives.

We shall look into the emerging technologies of today and how they will impact our future:

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

Contrary to human or animal intelligence, artificial intelligence (AI) refers to intelligence displayed by computers. The term “intelligence” refers to the capacity for knowledge, reasoning, abstraction, and inference of meaning. It is the ability to act intelligently. Since its establishment as an academic field in 1956, artificial intelligence has gone through a number of waves of optimism, disappointment, and funding loss (known as a “AI winter”), new approaches, successes, and renewed funding.

AI was founded on the assumption that human intelligence "can be so precisely described that a machine can be made to simulate it.

Numerous methods have been tried and rejected in AI research, including modeling human problem-solving, formal logic, massive knowledge bases, and brain simulation. Machine learning, which is heavily statistical and mathematical, dominated the field in the first two decades of the twenty-first century. AI is succeeding now because of the new approach ane with that, AI is everywhere.

You might be surprised to learn how much more of a role AI and machine learning already play in daily life. Every Google search you conduct, Alexa, Siri, Amazon’s product recommendations, Netflix and Spotify’s tailored recommendations, security checks for unauthorized credit card purchases, dating apps, fitness trackers… Each is controlled by AI.AI will revolutionize almost all facets of contemporary life.

For society and human life as we know it, there are potentially enormous risks, especially in light of the fact that some nations are vying with one another to develop autonomous weapons with AI capabilities. Many other technologies are built on the foundation of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. We wouldn’t have made the incredible strides in the Internet of Things, virtual reality, chatbots, facial recognition, robotics, automation, or self-driving cars, for example, without AI.

AI will also change how human jobs are done. Automation powered by AI will have a significant impact and could result in the loss of many jobs. most people don’t subscribe to the idea that robots will take over all human jobs in a dystopian future; instead, It is thought that AI will improve our lives at work. Human work will be improved by AI, and new jobs will appear to take their place.

Additionally, our uniquely human abilities, such as creativity, empathy, and critical thinking, will become even more precious and valuable in the workplaces of the future as machines become more intelligent and capable of performing more human tasks.

EXTENDED REALITY (XR)

Extended reality, or XR for short, refers to the use of technology to produce more immersive digital experiences. It includes virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality.

In actuality, XR is being used to improve workplace learning, increase customer service, let customers try products before they buy, and other organizational procedures.

In the nearest future, People can experience the world in exciting and brand-new ways thanks to XR technologies. The world is already using XR technology in very practical ways, and it will probably fundamentally alter how we use technology. In addition, XR serves as the user interface for the metaverse, a hypothetical virtual world in which we can explore the internet as anyone or anything we choose.

3D PRINTING

A 3D object is built layer by layer from a digital file through a process called additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing. The manufacturing and other industries could be completely transformed by 3D printing, despite the fact that it may appear to be significantly lower tech than gene editing or artificial intelligence.

The factories of the future will have the ability to print replacement parts for equipment quickly and on-site using 3D printing. A 3D printer could take the place of an entire assembly line. We might be able to print food, weapons, and even human tissue for transplant. Although 3D printing technology offers many advantages, there are also drawbacks, difficulties, and challenges that must be overcome. We must take into account the environmental impact of the printers themselves, even though it has the potential to lessen the environmental impact of manufacturing by using fewer materials overall.

The ability of 3D printing to easily and cheaply produce fake license goods creates issues for intellectual property owners as well. Another issue is the ease with which weapons can be 3D printed. This will have an unforeseeable effect on the future.

GENOMICS AND GENE TECHNOLOGY

Biology’s interdisciplinary field of genomics focuses on deciphering and modifying the DNA and genomes of living things. A group of technologies known as gene editing makes it possible to use genetic engineering to modify the DNA and genetic makeup of living things.

As a result of biotechnology’s advancements, it is now possible to change a cell’s DNA, which will affect the traits that its progeny will inherit. In plants, this might have an impact on the number of leaves or the color, whereas in people, it might have an impact on things like height, eye color, or the propensity to get sick. This creates a nearly infinite number of possibilities because it means that any trait possessed by a living thing that is inherited. . Such significant advancements are most likely still decades away, if they are even conceivable. In the short term, it is probably more productive to concentrate on solving smaller issues that will have an immediate impact on the real world. If handled properly, gene technology can be good for the future.

HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION

Wearable technology and human-computer interfaces are created to enhance human performance physically and possibly mentally and to help us live longer, healthier lives. Fitness tracker bands and smartwatches are two of the most widely used wearables on the market right now. These compact, convenient devices are used to monitor our activity and offer insights that help us live healthier, better, and more productive lives. Many people are of the opinion that technological advancements like these will eventually lead to the creation of truly augmented humans, “humans 2.0 or Terminator” as they say, whose bodies have been given a sports car makeover in order to achieve improved physical and mental performance. This would revolutionize the medical field and ultimately, perhaps even put our conception of what it means to be human in jeopardy.

These technologies are regarded as the the technology of the future. Their development and integration into our world today would impact our future, the right way.
